Sam is much more determined than Steven.
Steven pretty much accepted that he couldn't reach something, and either asked for it, or just found something else to do.
Sam has a tendency to try a lot harder to get to things that he wants but can't reach. Even though he can barely lift this stool, he carries it around a lot!
He knows that it can help him get what he wants!
