Baby Animal Days!

We took Steven to Baby Animal Days at the Heritage Center here in Logan again this year. It is his third trip. His first year he was still inside my tummy. His second year he was only five months old so it was fun but he didn't care a whole lot. This year was really fun though. He loved seeing all the animals. We got to see baby chicks, turkeys, bunnies, cows, goats, pigs, sheep, horses, turtles, toads giant millipedes, and hissing cockroaches and lots of others. They had these Alpacas with super furry faces. The fur was so poofy it made their little faces look fat. Hee Hee Hee! Steven's favorite were the bunnies. He loved to pet their soft fur and see their noses wiggle. He wanted to hold the baby turkey too but since he reached for it's little fragile neck first thing, we opted for a "no" on that one. There was also this poor calf (David was his name. He is the one in the picture) who just stood there and didn't move the whole time we were there. Don't worry he wasn't dead, it was just his third day with the kids descending on his little existence and I think he had had about all that he could take. The bright side: the kids could walk right up to him and pet him and he stayed there! This year we made sure to see the turtles and frogs (we missed them the other years). Matt had some fun memories when we were holding the turtles. He was reminded of Antonio, his pet turtle from his mission. the turtles they had there were tiny like Antonio used to be. New this year they had some bugs to look at and a few for holding. I got brave and decided to hold the giant millipede. I got Matt to hold it too! It's hundreds of little legs were really tickly. Steven was fascinated by all of the animals. He watched them, petted them and even chased a few ( the little piglets). Overall his favorite part of the entire day was when we let him roam around the open area. He is really into walking on grass lately. He likes to be free to wander. We took a wagon ride while we were there. One of the horses was named Steven, so Steven got to pet Steven (that's the picture with the big horses). The horses that pull their wagons are HUGE! They are so beautiful though. Overall, it was a great day. The weather was really nice. And since we were there when they opened the gates, we got through most of the activities before the big crowds showed up. That's right folks, we were on time, early even. It's a little hard to believe but it's true. To anyone out there wondering if Baby Animal Days is worthwhile, mark your calendars for next year and go (if you're in the Cache Valley area ). It's fun even without kids.
