DEMOLITION DERBY!!!!

We had a a fun night last Friday! We got to take Steven to his first Demolition Derby! Demolition Derby's are something that both Matt and I enjoy. I grew up going to them. Matt doesn't remember if he ever went to one before he met me. Our favorite one of all time was probably three years ago. It was when My brother Brian drove a car in the derby. It just made it a lot more fun to watch when you know one of the drivers.
For those of you who don't know, basically all a demolition derby is, is a bunch of cars ramming each other and the last one running wins. Brutal, yet entertaining. We were excited that we could introduce this fun to our little Steven. It was kind of a late night for him, but he had lot's of excitement and a really good time. He didn't like it when it was really loud, but he had a good time watching the cars and trucks.

Steven's first time with Nachos. He really likes to dip in the cheese. He's not picky about whether he is dipping chips or fingers.

A woman was driving this suburban. At one point her radiator cap blew off and this is the resulting geyser.

This truck lost it's steering about halfway through the heat. I think you can see why.

This car was one of two cars left in the final heat. They just kept going and going. Finally while they were ramming each other head on over and over, this car finally burst into flames. they put him out and he kept on fighting for another 5 or 10 minutes before his car finally quit.

At this point Steven is up way past his bedtime, but he is still a happy camper. He had been eating all kinds of goodies and playing with Grandma. This is a picture of him playing with his cousin's light up sword. I used the night mode on my camera, so it caught the light of the sword as it moved. It was dark at this point, but we were around a lot of lights so it doesn't look like it.
Overall, it was a fun night for all. We love to go and help my parents out at the derby's. the Sherriff's association runs the hamburger stand at the derby, and my dad is usually the organizer for getting the supplies and keeping things running smoothly. We go and help him out where he needs it. This was the first time we watched the entire derby. We did help clean up afterwards though. Great job on another successful derby Dad!

The following is a little video of the truck heat of the derby. This is so those of you who have never been to a derby can get a little taste of what it's like

Being from Panguitch I have also enjoyed a demo derby or 200 myself. I LOVE IT! How fun that you got to take your little guy. I wish we had them around here...Mason would LOVE it!

Cute haircut! We miss having a demolition derby nearby. It looks like it was lots of fun. It's amazing how long those cars last out there!
