Off to Finland

Sorry that this post is a little late. With Packing and getting ready to move, I have been pretty busy. On Friday June 20th we went to the church administration building and attended the setting apart of my Father and Mother in-law for their mission. It was a truly spiritual experience. Elder Bednar was great. He talked with the family a little before the setting apart. We talked a lot about the compensating blessings we would all receive as a result of Mom and Dad's choice to serve. Then after the setting apart we got a little time to sit and chat as a family. It was really great to spend time having a great spiritual experience as family. After it was all over we went to temple square and took some family pictures. Below is a picture of Matt and all of his siblings.

And a picture of the new mission president and his sweet wife.

Later that evening we had a really yummy dinner and just spent a great evening hanging out and relaxing as a family one last time before Mom and Dad left. We took lots more pictures including some of all the grandkids together. It was really great.

The next day we had a great time hanging out with Matt's sister Ali. We went thrift store shopping, out to dinner and then had ice cream at Ali's house. When we were at the salvation army, Ali got a knitting machine for two dollars.

Later that night she got it out and tried it. It was actually pretty cool! She made a tube with the two colors of yarn that came with the machine. The tube doubled as a leg warmer, as Ali is demonstrating.
Unfortunately, later it was taken apart again and returned to it's previous yarn form.
