A couple of days ago Steven and I made a pilgrimage to Walmart to purchase some fish. We had two reasons for purchasing these fish. The first reason was to get some fish for the Turtle to snack on. The second reason was to get Steven some pets for his Birthday.

We just got the cheap feeder fish that are about 30 cents each (this is so if they die, I'm not out much since the liklihood of them not surviving is decent). We bought seven, three for the turtle, and four for Steven. He loves to watch them swim and feed them.

We are still teaching Steven that he can't hold them or touch them but so far they have been fun.
As for the turtle, we will start his portion of this little story with this warning... the following may be a little morbid but there is no blood and it is part of the natural food chain. With that said, we will begin.
Matt got Antonio Bonito Flamingo (Antonio for short) while he was on his mission in New Orleans, LA. He is a red eared slider and was about the size of a quarter when Matt got him. As you can see in the picture below, he is just a little bigger now...

We mostly feed him turtle pellets, but every now and then, we get him some live fish and let him hunt them. This may sound a little morbid, but it is kind of fun to watch him hunt. Although he is getting bigger and moves a little slower now so it's not quite as action packed as it used to be. We started him out in the bathtub so he wouldn't get his tank messy (nuff said there) but he didn't really want much to do with the fish while he was in there.

Once we put him back in his tank, and put the fish with him, he immediately chased one down. The picture below is a little blurry but you can see him going after the fish. He missed this time though...
