Our First Camping Of The Summer!

So this post is a couple of weeks late... I find that time gets away from me a lot faster now than it did in the past.
On the first weekend in May we went on our first camping trip of the year. Every year we go camping the first weekend in May and we always go to the same place. We go to a little place called White Rocks out in the desert west of Tooele. There is hiking and lots of roads to ride the 4-wheelers on. It was a little rainy this year, but we had some good weather too so it was still a lot of fun. This was Samuel's first camping trip. He did really well and since he loves to be outside, we think he will be quite the camper, once he's old enough to know what's going on.


I was super excited to take Steven this time because now he is talking really well, and he tells about what he is thinking. He also is starting to form opinions on things. It was a lot of fun to watch his reactions to all that camping involves. My mom got a kid helmet to go with her 4-wheelers so Steven could ride (we don't ride the wheelers without helmets. Ever.). It took some convincing to get him to wear it. Finally we just put it on him, and took him for a ride. About a minute into his first ride, he decided he loved it, and we couldn't get the helmet off of him.
I thought he looked so cute with the helmet on, because it's this huge helmet on his little body.



Once we got home, he spent about three days negotiating with Matt to take him for rides on the four wheeler.
Steven also had a lot of fun making new friends with some kids that were camping with us. The weekend was full of lots of fun camping things... Roasting hot dogs on the fire, 4-wheeler rides in the mud, roasting marshmallows, playing with sticks, riding bikes, playing with rocks, playing games, hiding from the rain under trailer awnings, and lots and lots of snacking!

With all of us having digital cameras, we usually take the laptop camping so we can mess with the pictures that we take. Matt got a memory card stuck in his laptop. Don't worry, he got it out with no damage!
Overall we had a great time and can't wait until next year at White Rocks. We also can't wait until our next camping trip (we just don't know when that will be...)!
