A Visit To The Dairy

This last weekend we got the chance to go and visit some friends that live on a dairy farm.
On the way up there, we saw some trucks carrying the blades for a windmill. There were three of them and they were HUGE!!!!

The dairy that our friends live on is up in Clifton, Idaho. We haven't seen these friends for a few years (3 or 4 at least), so we were excited to visit with them again. It was so nice to catch up on what we had all been up to. We also got the grand tour of the dairy! Steven had a blast looking at everything and being so close to the cows. Samuel slept through our dairy tour, and missed out. I don't suspect he would cared much if he had been awake though.
Here are a few photos from our trip:

A lot of the bigger cows were pretty skittish when we got near them and they would back away. but this brown Jersey cow thought Steven was pretty interesting and she would let him get pretty close, she just wouldn't let him touch her.

In this picture you can see that she is eying him. Right after I took this she put her nose right up next to his head. She probably would have licked him, but I got his attention and he turned and looked at her. So she backed away. He wasn't scared of her though. I was a little surprised.

Steven got to hold a farm kitten. We were lucky to catch one. They are really wild cats!

Steven and Matt feeding one of the baby calves with a bottle. Matt had to help him because the baby calf pulls pretty hard and we didn't want it to pull Steven into the pen! Matt had to hang on pretty tight to keep a hold of the bottle!

Steven watching a couple of the calves in their pens. They had the cutest faces!

And we had to get a picture with the farm equipment! Steven had a lot of fun seeing the tractors.

It was a great time visiting with friends and seeing how a dairy works! Maybe next time we will get to see them milking the cows! Thanks Mumfords for a great day!
